Freezing Temperatures Doesn't Have to Mean Frozen Pipes

Other helpful tips to prevent frozen water pipes:

1. Make sure your water meter box in your front yard has a good lid and its properly on the meter box. If your box has a missing or damaged lid with a hole in it please call our main office to request a new one.
2. Close the vents on the foundation of your house. The vents are designed to be opened for most of the year but during cold snaps any opening to your foundation is a source of cold air touching exposed water pipes.
3. Alot of homes have hot water heaters in garages along with water pipes. Keep garage doors closed during low temperatures.
4. Allowing water faucets to slowly drip in extreme low temperature will provide some risk reduction to freezing water pipes.
5.Wrap water faucets that are found on the outside of your house with insulating material or a store bought cap designed to place over the faucet during winter weather.
